  Automotive Parts Distribution Ltd was founded in 1947 under the name Western Relining services.
 

1974

 
  Twenty seven years later, in 1974, it opened its second branch in Glastonbury, Somerset. The company continued to expand its services to local garages and developed its stockholding of components.
 

1991

 
  Alan Seal and Tom Murray purchased the company and a program of expansion began.
 

2003

 
  In November 2003, the company de-merged with Tom Murray retaining the company name. APD retained 4 branches in Bath, Glastonbury, Retford and Chippenham.

Alan Seal founded a new company called APD Cotswold Ltd with branches in Cirencester, Gloucester and Cheltenham. Both companies belong to the IFA buying group.
 

2004

 
  In January 2004, Fraser Murray and Ewan Murray joined the company as directors and a new program of expansion began.

In 2004, APD acquired KTF Fastparts, a Bosch distributor in Norwich. This company specialised in Bosch petrol and diesel injector components.
 

2005

 
  In January 2005, APD sold its Retford operation to Tanvic Spares Ltd, a fellow mender of the IFA buying group.

In June 2005, APD set up a new site in Swindon, Wiltshire.
 

2006

 
  In June 2006, APD set up a new site in Westbury, Wiltshire. This site delivers to Westbury, Warminster, Frome, Devizes, Melksham and Trowbridge.
